Filmore was quite a character! He was bred by my good friend Anne Lucas of Lounsbury Boxers. Anne never intended to keep him permanently as she prefers the girls. She decided that he should be shown while she was waiting for the 'right' home to come along. I had the pleasure of showing him as a puppy. He was always such a neat dog to show, always full of himself. He believed that the whole world was there just to admire him. His attitude was outstanding, as was his conformation. He excelled in neck, topline, and tailset.
Despite limited stud use before leaving Canada, Filmore can boast of being a Canadian Sire of Merit. Filmore was the Top Boxer Puppy in Canada and the second top winning male in 1988. He was a multiple Best Puppy in Show winner and a Best in Show winner.
Filmore was purchased by Sheila Bowman of Rupik Boxers, England. He arrived in quarantine September 1989, and was released March 1990. He handled the quarantine easily, and when he was released, he and Sheila became inseparable. He died suddenly, following an accident with a brick wall. Sheila was devestated. Filmore did not live nearly long enough. He was one special dog.
